In 1995, TLC shocked the world when it filed for bankruptcy. The idea of bankruptcy did not sit well with many people because it was one of the highest-grossing music groups of that era. Watkins and her fellow group members declared debts of around $3.5 million.

The group’s filing for bankruptcy shocked many people considering that the group had released numerous platinum albums that had sold millions of copies. Before filing for bankruptcy, they had released an album CrazySexCool which sold 14 million copies globally. Moreover, the group had also gone on a global tour which earned them good revenue.

When the members were questioned about the bankruptcy, they revealed awkward details about the contract they had signed with their managers and producers. The management team left the members with annual earnings of $50,000 and on top of that, they charged them for flights, hotels, and food during the tours. The group members also revealed that only split 56 cents for each album sold.

Personal Financial Struggles

Away from TLC’s bankruptcy, T-Boz’s financial struggles did not end there. 16 years later, in 2011, t-Boz filed for bankruptcy, declaring debts of up to $1 million. The singer revealed that she only earned $12,000 a month from which $1,200 was from royalties. The singer was also paying a $768,000 mortgage on a $1.2 million property, while her monthly expenses amounted to $9,000 a month.

Music Career

T-Boz is a famous singer who won four Grammy awards for her collaborations with the TLC girl group. The TLC group was formed in 1991 after Perri Reid and Antonio Reid brought together the talented singer alongside Rozanda Thomas and Lisa Lopes.

One of the group members died in 2002 and it resulted in T-Boz and Thomas performing as a duo. Apart from her career in the music group, T-Boz has also performed as a solo artist. She has released albums some of which have sold numerous copies.
