Born as Vincent Damon Furnier on February 4, 1948, Alice Cooper attained the name of his band. First, Furnier was born in Detroit, Michigan and his immediate family was heavily associated with religious functions.
His father was an Evangelist with the Jesus Christ’s Church while his grandfather was an apostle with the same church that was later elected as the president. Vincent Furnier grew up with his family practicing in the church as a boy but he was often sick. Finally, they relocated to Phoenix, Arizona and he later joined Cortez High School.
Career
In high school Furnier expressed dreams to become a successful musician They band consisted of the following members. To everyone’s disappointment, before a school talent show, he persuaded some of his friends to launch fake music and mimic The Beatles’ songs.
Added to the band was Glen Buxton and Dennis Dunaway both of whom would later form part of the infamous Alice Cooper band. Buxton was talented enough to play the guitar, so the rest of the crowd sarcastically imitated. People enjoyed their act and they got the talent contest.
For some time, they put out a single called ‘Don’t Blow Your Mind’ which topped local charts. Thus, by 1967 the band was already coming to Los Angeles for shows frequently enough that they decided to move here permanently. At this point they added a new member to the band, Neal Smith as in drummer.
Decline
Alice Cooper was beginning his war against alcoholism, and he was admitted to the hospital to begin treatment. Cooper has listed he has recorded many albums in the 80s which he cannot recall doing as he was too DMAED up with the substances.
What is famous is that these albums would turn out to be commercially uneventful for the most part. It was not until just about the end of the eighties that he was able to experience it for something of a resurgence, though it would not last long.
By the 2000s, Alice Cooper had moved to industrial metal kind of music in an attempt to meet the trends on the market. He toured with Rob Zombie in 2010 and Motley Crue in 2014 for instance.
