He played college football for New Mexico Lobos, received an All-American honor, and was selected ninth by the Bears in the 2000 NFL draft during the first round. The Chicago Bears signed him for a five-year $8 million contract and a $5.5 million bonus.

After recovering from an injured middle linebacker, he led his team with 124 tackles and eight sacks. He was the NFL’s most defensive player winning the NFL Rookie Award of the Year in 2000 and 2005. However, he missed most games in the 2009 season due to injury resulting in struggles in the next seasons.

The Chicago Bears had to issue a statement distancing themselves from his tweet.

Brian Urlacher was born on May 25th,1978 in Pasco, Washington. After his parent’s separation, they moved to Lovington, New Mexico with his brother Casey Urlacher. He developed an interest in football, basketball, and table tennis in his youth. He played sports while in Lovington High School and led his team to a 14-0 season and a 3-A state championship. The season came to an end with twelve touchdown receptions, six touchdown returns, and two rushing touchdowns.

He left a good record in school that they named a holiday after him. He graduated in 1996. He wanted to join Texas Tech University but they did not have an athletic scholarship. He joined the University of New Mexico to study criminology and joined the school team, the Lobos, as a linebacker. He graduated college with multiple honors and accolades.

He sold his mansion in the Phoenix area and the other in Illinois within a few days. His mansion in Arizona has six bedrooms, walls made of glass, coffered ceilings, a pool, and a gym, it was listed for $2.5 million. Urlacher sold his home in Illinois for $1.5 million although he made a loss as he bought it at $2.3 million.

Urlacher won over $47,000 for charity on the game show Wheel of Fortune. He has appeared in commercials like McDonald’s, Domino’s Pizza, Old Spice, Glaceau, and Nike.

He was fined $100,000 for wearing a hat promoting Glaceau vitamin water as it was non-NFL approved. In 2014, he became the spokesman for an Illinois-based clinic after undergoing a hair plant surgery to fix his hair.
