Max Weinberg’s Career
Weinberg made his first public appearance at age seven as a drummer in a bar playing ‘When the Saints Go Marching In’. The leading act for the bar and weddings, Herbie Zane, sported him and always brought him along making him gain popularity as he stayed with Zane till junior high school and learned different rhythms like Dixieland jazz and Acker Bilk’s ‘Stranger on the Shore’.
Weinberg joined the E Street Band as a new drummer and dropped out of college to pursue his passion luckily, he became famous and started making a name for himself as hardworking with controlled beats. He went on tours with the band with his recorded albums ‘Born to Run’ and ‘Darkness on the Edge of Town’. He received several hand operations which slowed him down but by 1984 he recovered and released his album ‘Born in the USA which did well.
In 1989, the E street band was dissolved redirecting him to create his own record company and doing motivational seminars. He named his company Hard Ticket Entertainment. The band, however, got back together and recorded ‘The Rising’ ‘Magic’ and later ‘Working on a Dream’ while still touring.
In 2009 he worked with O’Brien on ‘The Tonight Show’ but due to conflicts, it came to an end. He created a band to continue performing and touring.
Early and Personal life of Max Weinberg
Weinberg was born in Newark, New Jersey on 13th April 1951 to a Jewish family. His father, Bertram Weinberg, was an attorney and his mum, Ruth Weinberg, was a high school physical education teacher. He has three sisters, Patty, Abby, and Nancy.
Max was exposed to music early on and liked big orchestras, then country and Western music. He always wanted to be a drummer and his dad bought him a child’s conga drum after watching Xavier Cugat a bandleader. He went to Columbia High School, Adelphi University in New York then transferred to Seton Hall University for film studies.
Weinberg and his wife Rebecca Schick, a high school teacher, married in 1981. They had a daughter Ali and a son named Jay, a drummer for Slipknot a heavy metal band while Ali worked in news media and is now a producer at PBS Newshour.
Max Weinberg underwent a 12-hour open heart surgery to repair valves and a year later he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and had a successful surgery to have it treated.

Weinberg and his family live in their home in Los Angeles, California. They also have a home in Red Bank, New Jersey. Weinberg is into the real estate business and has a five-acre farm in Monmouth County, an 8,900 square-foot home in Middletown township, and another in Delray Beach, Florida. He lives in a house with 5 bedrooms,3 bathrooms made of wood, and tall floor-to-ceiling windows and concrete floors. The backyard has inbuilt sofa lounges, an outdoor shower, and an angular-shaped swimming pool.
