Molly Bloom is an American entrepreneur, author, and speaker who has a net worth of 500,000 dollars. The business mogul was known as the Poker Princess, as she used to organize various underground poker games that were attended by various celebrities, including A-list actors. Before venturing into business, Molly was a skier; she participated in various tournaments, and her aim was to make it to the Olympics, but she was not lucky enough as she was injured before qualifying for the Olympics.

Early Life

Molly Bloom was born and raised in Loveland, Colorado. Her father was a professor, while her mother was a snowboard and ski instructor. As such, it was expected for Bloom or any of her siblings to follow in their mother’s path. Molly has two older brothers; one is a cardiac surgeon, while the other is a competitive skier. Molly wanted to be like her brother. She wanted to establish herself as a skier, but she was unlucky when she suffered a serious injury.

Following this injury, Molly was very devastated, and as such, she left home to look for something else she could do to earn a living. She did not want to sit at home and feel sorry for herself, and she thought the best option was to find greener pastures in Los Angeles.

Career

After relocating to Los Angeles, she managed to land a job as a bartender. While working as a bartender, she was very interactive, and through her interactions, Mr Feinstein, one of the owners of The Viper Room, pitched an idea to her. She was supposed to recruit individuals who could play the poker game. She was okay with the plan, and while managing the games, she kept learning the game with the intent of mastering it such that she could run her games someday.

After a few years, Molly opened her company that hosted poker tournaments. She began hosting tournaments in private homes and big hotels. Her celebrity catalog contained the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Alex Rodriguez, Rich Salomon, and Ben Affleck, and she used to make tens of thousands of dollars per night.

Gambling Conviction

In 2011, an investigation began on a Ponzi scheme, and two years later, Bloom, along with 33 others, were arrested for illegal gambling and money laundering. Bloom pleaded guilty to the charges, and she was ordered to pay a forfeiture of 125, 000 dollars. Her lawyer defended her, claiming that she was in debt and most of the money she made from gambling went to her employees.

Post-Gambling

Following her conviction, Molly Bloom became a changed woman. She transitioned to public speaking and writing. She published her memoir Molly’s Game, which details her experiences as the Poker Princes and all about illegal gambling. A movie by the same name was released in 2018 and Molly was portrayed by Jessica Chastain. Besides writing, Molly hosted two seasons of the podcast series Torched.
